Guesswork

We tend to think that there’s just one mind; our own. That the other is going to understand precisely what we mean, sometimes without even saying anything at all.

We don’t normally think about it but we assume the other is seeing what we are seeing, what we are thinking, knows what we need and don’t want, what we are afraid of. We don’t commonly consider that the other lives in a totally different world inside their head, has different images and emotions, different needs and perhaps fears, different experiences and a personal processing system going on inside them constantly.

It’s the tragedy of a species just beginning to awaken but still in kindergarten stage. As everything in its first steps, communication remains chaotic, clumsy, and is being largely misinterpreted. Much of it is left to hypotheses, assumptions, fantasies, which we automatically rely on to fill in the blanks we don't have/know.

When you think about it this way, it’s an accomplishment that we come to any concertation, co-decisions at all, that we get anything done! We rely mostly on guesswork, unconscious of the fact in real time and many of us all of the time.

A necessary process of growth, which naturally produces conflict, wars, injustices, irrational laws, and all the horrors we keep experiencing. In cosmic time, it’s just a blink of an eye. In our time, it’s centuries and generations of pain, isolation, separation.

Until we come to the realization that we differ from the other animals and species of the Earth, in that we not herds, flocks or dens but individual, self-actualizing, cooperative, compassionate, holographic parts of the one whole.

A difficult point to reach, not intellectually (because we already know this) but actually; being it! The next state of growth that cannot be prevented, for it is inevitable when the previous stage is over. It takes courage and a lot of self-work to cross over.
